Paulus has been a freelance tour guide since August 2002. He provides tours through Namibia into Botswana and Zimbabwe. His job description is guiding tourists by giving them information while driving them through national parks.
The main responsibilities of a tour guide/operator are to escort groups and provide them with factual and interesting information about the sights the visit.
They can also specialise in the following areas: cultural tourism, nature-based, storytelling, eco-tourism or marine tourism. It is an interesting yet challenging career. There are so many things you need to know in a very short period of time. Employment opportunities for tour guides/operators are community-based tour organisations, private companies and in government tour operations. Some tour guides are self-employed and they are called freelance guides.

For your education and training you need a grade 12/ senior certificate.
Important subjects are geography, history, natural science, physics and chemistry, mathematics and English.
