Foreword

Oshana Governor Elia Irimari
The 21st edition of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair is upon us. We are all aware that for the past two years, this important exhibition could not take place due to the scourge of Covid-19. As the saying goes, tough times never last, tough people do. We have been resilient and, due to the efforts of the government, we have minimised the danger and are on the verge of conquering Covid-19 in Namibia.

This has created an open door for us to continue with our economic activities for the betterment of our people. It is on this basis that we are once again gearing up for the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF). We are expecting local and international exhibitors to showcase their products.

This will also serve as a platform for networking between our local communities and international visitors.

On this basis, and given what will be on offer at the OATF, as a governor of the region, I hope all our inhabitants and people from other regions will visit the trade fair.

This year’s trade fair takes place under the theme: ‘Gearing for a Smart Economy’.

The OATF is unique, and this year the organisers have infused a new element into the event, a first for any trade fair in Namibia: they are adding a virtual exhibition, in addition to the old activities.

We call upon all the communities of Oshana to show courtesy and friendliness to our visitors, so that they feel welcome and will return for another visit.

We want to alert criminals that the region will not tolerate any illegal activities and that law enforcers will be ready 24 hours a day to make sure that peace and stability prevail.

To drivers and young people, we ask that you drink responsibly.

Abuse of alcohol can lead to carnage on the roads. We do not want that to happen during the trade fair or at anytime, anywhere in Namibia.

Women, this is your time to shine.

And, for our inhabitants who run shebeens and informal businesses, we urge you to provide good services to the people. This a time when the city will by hyper-active. Be a winning representative of the region and make use of the opportunity to do business bigger and better.

Welcome!

Enjoy and stay safe!
