Vivo Energy Namibia launches new and improved Shell V-Power fuel
Vivo Energy Namibia, the marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, launched its latest fuel formulation, the new and improved Shell V-Power, at Droombos in Windhoek on Monday.The New and Improved Shell V-Power is already available at Shell service stations across the entire country.
Speaking on the occasion, Vivo Energy Namibia managing director Jaco van Rensburg reiterated Vivo Energy Namibia’s commitment to providing Namibian motorists with the best possible fuel solutions and highlighted the exceptional benefits of the New and Improved Shell V-Power.
“This advanced formulation ensures your engine operates as if it were brand new. It offers unparalleled protection against corrosion and maximises engine performance. The fuel contains a corrosion inhibitor that is designed to help protect fuel system components such as parts of fuel pumps, fuel sender units, fuel lines, rails and injectors against corrosion,” he said.
Qualities
Yasmin Hemberger, a fuel scientist for product management and deployment at Shell, elaborated on the specific qualities of the new formulation, outlined its innovative specifications and highlighted the long-term advantages it offers to vehicles.
“Renowned as Shell’s pinnacle performance fuel, Shell V-Power is designed to clean up to 100% of critical engine parts and prevent the accumulation of performance-hindering deposits. It offers drivers a fuel that not only enhances performance but also protects their vehicles for years to come. This revolutionary formulation is the culmination of over five years of intensive research, building upon Shell’s century-long legacy of innovation,” Hemberger said.
She hailed the new and improved Shell V-Power as the "best ever formulation" of the company saying it achieves 100% clean-up for both indirect and direct injection engine technologies. “The benefits of the formulation includes the 100% cleaning of critical engine parts with every fill, keeping engines running like new and maximizing engine performance.”
Van Rensburg also acknowledged the enduring partnership between Shell V-Power and iconic automotive brands such as Ferrari and BMW: “The Shell brand has been in Namibia since 1975. Our collaboration with world-class brands like Ferrari and BMW underscores our dedication to rigorously testing our fuel formulations under the most demanding conditions to deliver a superior product to the market.”
Background
Vivo Energy Namibia was established in October 2012, following the acquisition of Namibia’s downstream business from Shell.
The company employs more than 120 permanent employees. As a Shell licensee, the company serves the retail and commercial market segments in Namibia, supplying fuel and lubricants to key sectors of the economy such as transport, construction, mining and agriculture.
Vivo Energy Namibia also operates bulk oil storage terminals in the key towns of Walvis Bay, Windhoek, Oranjemund and Tsumeb. The retail business has grown to almost twice its initial size since 2012, effectively becoming a market leader.
The company has a fuel storage capacity of 7,718 cubic metres and operates 75 service stations with many offering Shell Cards and convenience retail stores. Vivo Energy Namibia also operates a high-impact Community Investment Programme, aiming to create lasting local social and economic benefits.
