Ananias Newaka Nashilundo is a social services consultant and public health officer at the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF).

Nashilundo started working at GIPF on 21 September in 2009.

For the past nine years that he has been working at GIPF as a social Services consultant.

He was able to conduct social investigations and finalised 100% of new referrals cases before the expiration of service level agreement (SLA) period and successfully resolved complex cases.

He also made clear recommendations on findings to provide guidance for firm decision-making. Above all, 100% of all submitted case reports were approved by the GIPF boards of trustees.

In addition, through the provision of financial coaching to guardians, GIPF recorded a reduction in the mismanagement of children’s funds by their guardians and also reduced additional dependents.

“These enabled GIPF to pay the death claims within an agreed period of time,” he said.

Nashilundo also worked through quality pre- and post-counselling sessions to active and retired enabled members, using evaluation forms after each session, and workshops members were able to advocate positive attitudes towards their financial planning and management before and after retirement. He said this was one of the highlights of his career so far.

He said one of the challenges he faces on a day-to-day basis is dealing and working alone with the two vast regions namely Oshikoto, which has a total of 182 000 inhabitants, and Ohangwena Region, with a total population of 250 000 residents.

He added that proper planning and the execution of his planned activities has helped him overcome his challenges.

Nashilundo told Careers he always aims to achieve, in the best interest of his clients.

“I strive with proper planning, prioritising and implementing of the planned activities on my desk.

I strive to work hard and meet my SLAs, with agreed standards on time. I am a person who works with the scope of my profession, its code of conducts and ethics,” he said.

Nashilundo urges young people to be prepared to work very hard, with a conviction, to delivery services and advocate for self-respect, self-focus, self-control, self-discipline, self-determination and self-confidence.

“They must also learn and be prepared to deliver services to all people, irrespective of their colour, race, sex or ethnic origin. Young people must also learn to work very hard and develop a model and a notion of self-sustaining themselves economically,” he said.

Nashilundo plans to continue to working together with his fellow employees as a team, in order to achieve and make difference in client affairs. He wants to continue delivering the highest quality of services all stakeholders in an innovative, professional and respectful manner.

In addition, he also plans to always be honest, fair, transparent and trustworthy in everything he does.

“I plan to stand in for other staff as required in their absence and assist with all kinds of miscellaneous matters, as well as improve operational efficiencies and recommendations,” he said.

Besides being in the office, he enjoys looking after animals, spending time with his family and doing voluntarily work in his community.
