Awarding the best of Duinesig

Our annual school prize giving took place earlier this year. The award ceremony was hosted to award the best performing learners from the previous year’s last term.

The ceremony started off with a devotion from Mr.Advent Mukobonda and followed by a performance of the school choir. The leaners learned a lot during the motivational address by Mshelly Mulenamaswe. “A lot that she said I could relate to and the advice she gave was very motivational said, Monica Ndakolo a grade 12 learner that attended the ceremony.

During the academic award, whereby merit certificates were given to the students for academic achievements who achieved 80% and above in all grades. Certificates were also awarded to the best performing students in a subject and they all got N$100 each for scoring the highest percentage in a subject.

Ten members of the learner’s representative council got awarded during the leadership award for serving on the learner’s representative council in 2018 during their grade 11 year. The Duinesig community was grateful to Titus Fikeipo, Prekansius Gauseb, Micheal Sindimba,Isak Kovandje, Sigrid Abraham, Penyambeko Lilonga and Adelina Kukomwa and was awarded with leadership awards. I felt great and honored to receive an award because of the hard work I did throughout the years I served my school. It is a great feeling to know that the school recognised me as an LRC “says Katherine Barisamus.

The sports awards was rewarded to Markus Haihambo ,Romeo Paulus and Moses Tjikuanda for playing cricket at circuit level .Kondja Davids was rewarded a certificate for playing soccer at regional level and representing the school he received a floating trophy ,a certificate ,a personalized shield and N$200 cash for being Duinesig’s sports personality of the year.

The Duinesig editorial team also got recognised for being responsible for their first two editions of ‘Die Duinesigger’ in the My Zone section of the Erongo newspaper. The young writers were rewarded with certificates for a job well done. Tabisa Ntebe got awarded by being recognised as cultural personality of the year 2018.She was entrusted to lead the group of journalist of two successful editions of Die Duinesigger. She has exhibited good leadership skills and has inspired her team to produce good stories for the learners. She received a certificate, N$200 cash and a personalized shield for a job well done. The ceremony ended with the top achievers who got rewarded with a certificate, a floating trophy a personalized shield and N$300 cash. The following learners were the top perfomers in each grade, grade 8 Johaness Shipinge ,grade 9 Grennie Joshua, grade10 Patrina Shalyefu and grade11 Monica Ndakolo.
