Courage Gondo

Gondo has been in the industry since 2011. He says there is no set qualifications that will land you a spot in the industry apart from being spontaneous and genuinely funny.

His job entails, performing comedy, doing MC work, script writing and acting. In 2011, Gondo won the Last Comic Standing award, just a few months after he started doing comedy.

Some of the requirements include having a funny bone, being intelligent and having a good stage presence. “Comedians stand in front of large crowds and this will help you with stage fright and some other limiting factors,” he says.

One also has to love telling stories and be eloquent.

There are a lot of character traits attached to this line of work in order to make sure you deliver a good performance. “Charm, confidence and the ability to demand and control attention are the key traits you would need as a comedian,” Gondo added.

Gondo says being able to put a smile on someone’s face is what makes it all worth it. “Being able to do what I love every day, and cheer people up, to me is the greatest highlight of my career. Winning the Last Comic Standing, has also been a great achievement.” He said.

“One super power you should possess is being able to laugh at your own jokes,” Gondo adds.
