Dedication and hard work pays off

Dessa Simanga has been employed at Sanlam since April 2015 and worked in the marketing department until June 2018, before moving to her current position as financial advisor.

“I changed jobs, from marketing to become a financial adviser. I made the move because I realised that I needed to walk the talk,” she says.

Simanga is a licensed financial adviser, she is accredited to offer financial advice and sell life insurance and investment products, which includes study provisions for children, retirement annuities, savings policies and unit trusts.

“I do not regret the change I made and I am excited about what the future holds for me as a financial adviser. I want to achieve so much, but just to mention one, I want to make an impact in people’s lives.”

Simanga says she wants to be one of the best financial advisers in the country - maybe even on the continent.

“I want to build a sustainable business within the Sanlam brand. I believe that with hard work and the commitment which I have towards my work, it will help me reach my goals. The sky is truly the limit,” she says.

To really elevate yourself in the industry, one is required to work hard and smart.

Simanga says people will take notice of your work and value the effort you are putting in, and you will be rewarded with the promotion you deserve.

She completed her studies in 2014 at Unam and obtained an honours degree in industrial psychology.

She is an extrovert and loves being outdoors and in crowds. She says a good concert or movie and get-togethers are her comfort areas.

Simanga also likes a little bit of solitude; she binges on TV series’ and movies at home, from time to time.
