Depression and anxiety go hand in hand. Some teens are really ashamed to confess, what they’re struggling with, especially to themselves.

Depression is defined as feelings of severe despondency and dejection and is an end result to self-doubt. Now, have you asked yourself why you doubt yourself? It is because you worry about what others may think or say. As high school students we tend to focus on who will say what or what others may think about us, we focus way too much on the opinions of others and we do not practice self-love and respect. Self-doubt can quickly become stronger and you get stuck in inaction and in fear and that is where anxiety starts shoving itself in the picture. Anxiety is a normal and often healthy emotion. However, when a person regularly feels disproportionate levels of anxiety, it might become a medical disorder. Remind yourself that people do not really care that much about what you do or do not do. From my personal perspective, depression and anxiety and spirit disrupters, it simply is the enemy attacking us. DEMONIC ATTACKS ARE REAL! From my own experience, my depression went on for as long as three days

Symptoms of depression are feelings of helpless and hopelessness, you lose interest in activities, you lose appetite and you lose weight, your sleep changes; you sleep more, you’re always angry or irritated, loss of energy, where you simply just want to sleep. My anxiety went on for as long as seven days and it was the worst seven days of my life. Anxiety disorders form a category of mental health diagnosis that leads to excessive nervousness, restlessness, fear, apprehension and worry. These disorders alter how a person processes emotions and behave, also causing physical symptoms. Mild anxiety might be vague and unsettling, while severe anxiety may seriously affect day-to-day living. Anxiety can cause distress as well, it causes alarms to set off in your body and allows evasive action. They become noticeable in the form of a raised heartbeat, severe sweating increased sensitivity to surroundings was when I tried to be on my cellphone, but it became so annoying and being in bed, caused the distress. The danger causes are a rush of adrenaline, a hormone and chemical messenger in the brain. Physical symptoms such as increased blood pressure and nausea may also develop.

How can school add pressure and become a trigger to depression? Many factors increase the risk of developing or triggering depression, including: Having issues that negatively impact self-esteem, such as obesity, peer problems, long-term bullying or academic problems which may be the biggest of them all because others may come forth as competitive.

As a teenager going through depression we need to look on the brighter side that there is hope no matter how tough the circumstances are. God makes the ugliest situations beautiful. Coping with and dealing with anxiety and depression and you have no one to talk to, the main go to person is always God. He’ll always be the only one there for us, the Holy Bible is basically a tour guide through our life. Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. To get back to God and stay standing when you are dealing with anxiety and depression, you should have mentors because they can change your life. Those people can help you grow through struggles and they can help you grow closer to God. So when depression hits you will not feel alone, it’s called discipleship and it is necessary for a healthy Christian walk.
