Donate blood and save a life

The Dawid Bezuidenhout High School senior learners take the mantra above very seriously! Three times per year, the learners of our school are presented with an opportunity to donate blood, when the Namibian Blood Transfusion Service, (NBTS) visits the school. The active Peer Promoters continuously educate and encourage the recruitment of new donors.
Their success is evident in the number of donors that have remarkably increased. This resulted in Merit awards earned for both the donation of learners and the effort by Peer Promoters, something our school is extremely proud of.
Blood is needed every two seconds for treatment of accident victims’ patients undergoing operations or for several other medical procedures. In other cases where special blood products are constantly needed blood cannot be manufactured, therefore donors are important.
On 14 June 2019, World Blood Donor Day was celebrated at NIPAM. DBHS was in attendance at this event. The theme for 2019 is SAFE BLOOD FOR ALL. This event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts. At this event, different recipients testified how the donation of blood has saved their lives and they too motivated the donors. DBHS had on this occasion, been awarded a Certificate of Recognition for promoting, and donating blood.
