Dynamite comes in small packages
Michelle du PlessisOur own kickboxing champion, Stephanie Schoonbee, took part in the Kickboxing World Championships in Atlanta, Georgia in the USA. This event took place from 12 to 14 June 2019. Here, many contestants from across the world battled it out in the Battle of Atlanta.
Stephanie shared her experience with Die Orakel. “Registration and weigh-in took place on the 12th of June and the competition started on the 13th. The competition consisted of two main events; Point Sparring and Continuous Sparring. Point Sparring is when the opponents are scored on various moves performed during rounds. On the other hand, Continuous Sparring is when the opponents take in an offensive or defensive position in their kickboxing round and are scored accordingly.”
Stephanie has a second level green belt and is a member of the Namibian Ring Contact Fighting Arts and Kickboxing Academy. She achieved second place in Point Sparring and an amazing first place in Continuous Sparring.
“Stephanie works very hard for what she wants and is an ambassador of WBPHS. We are very proud of her and wish her all the best with her future meets.” said miss Salomé Swart, Sport Officer at WBPHS.
