The aim for the dinner was to celebrate one year of existence as a fully registered association with an active membership across the country. The association is aimed at spearheading the development and advancement of women within the industry, as professionals as well as entrepreneurially, among other goals.

This year has been a very productive one for the association, amidst the challenges they faced as a new organisation.

“We wanted to use this platform to share with our wider membership the successes and challenges, launch of our three-year strategic plan, as well as our outlook for 2019,” said Nora Ndopu, organiser and member of the association.

Deputy Minister of mines and energy minister, Kornelia Shilunga, who also serves as the patron of the association, said she is proud to be a part of such a prestigious association.

WiMAN is working towards building their brand, as well as bringing about a bigger awareness of women in mining and the impacts they bring.
