The selection process for the COSSASA Ball Games starts in the second trimester, once teachers and learners are back at school on 13 May 2020.

The regionals are then held for soccer, netball, volleyball and basketball for the U13 and U17 age groups only. Throughout the process, players are scouted at various sport events and competitions. The selections stop at the end of May 2020.

The netball nationals take place on 5 and 6 June, where after volleyball, soccer and basketball nationals follow on 12 and 13 June. Finally, the hockey nationals start on 15 June and end on 20 June. This is when the national teams from each sport code are chosen. Training camps for each of these teams take place in the week before the official games, namely from 16 to 24 August, while the games take place from 26 to 30 August 2020.

COSSASA executives want to add more value to the games and for athletes, because they believe it is a platform where Namibian youth can hone their skills and abilities. They have also applied for membership to the Africa School Sports Association.

The plan then will be to select a team from each sport code to compete in Morocco in 2020.
