Laboratory technician in the food hygiene department involves testing of meat products mostly produced by Meatco for food pathogens and bacteria counts. Ensure food quality & safety during and after production and processing before consumers.

Iipinge completed her Bachelor of Science degree (honours) in microbiology and chemistry at the University of Namibia.

“Having worked in the food hygiene laboratory for five years I have acquired so much skills and experience that comes with a better understanding of food quality and safety. As the saying goes ‘You are what you eat’ apart from eating heathy people must understand that eating quality safe food comes first. I am glad to mention that I m a competent food hygiene lab technician now”

“We are all working toward achieving the same goal. Some are in production doing operational check and sampling, some at cattle receiving and some at products. One must really respect team work. We work together to get the test results ready within the expected turnaround time so business can continue. We sit and plan our day before we begin every day. We all committed to our work, and everyone gives their very best” says Iipinge.

She loves technical work and is inspired by women in technical fields.
