After attending and matriculating at St. Paul's College, Priscilla Husselmann furthered her education at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

There she completed her honours degree in Social Sciences – Organisational Psychology and Sociology in 2007.

She then enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch Business School and did a Management Development Programme in 2011.

Husselmann is not new on the block. She's been in the human resources department for at least seven years. She worked for companies such as Old Mutual, Nedbank and Bank Windhoek, where some of her responsibilities included organisational values awareness, change management and succession planning.

In September, she joined Deloitte and that's where she has been working since.

Husselmann is also a business coach and says she values the impact of individual transformation for business and personal gain.

She is inspired by honesty and confidence.

Husselmann says she appreciates when people share their wisdom and she believes everyone has something to contribute to this world.

“Solving problems and being a part of a team that delivers, always keeps me going,” she says.

“My approach towards business challenges is the alignment of strategy, people, culture and structures for business gain,” she adds.

“Working for Deloitte has taught me so many things. One has to have a deep understanding of strategic human resource management and organisational psychology. You also have to have a desire to help solve problems for clients that will leave a lasting impression,” she adds.

Human resource leaders can serve as consultants to management regarding human resource issues, helping to establish and maintain positive relations with employees, and foster a productive working environment.

Specific job duties may vary according to employer and industry, but in general, human resource professionals analyse and make recommendations regarding competitiveness in recruiting activities, compensation and benefits.

They may develop tools and plans for supervisory career path development, succession planning and other talent management processes.

Additional duties can include addressing problem areas, coaching managers on handling employee issues and determining job assignments.

Human resource leaders are also typically required to oversee employee orientation and training programmes, which is what Husselmann does, in a nutshell.

Apart from working, Husselmann also loves to paint and doodle. She is a wife and the mother of three girls.

She also loves hosting family and friends.
