They say only a book and pen can make a person reach his or her goals and succeed in life.

The 29th of January was a special day at Mount View High School.

It started off at the blue school, Windhoek High School, where Reschelle Beukes, the current City of Windhoek junior mayor, had to pick up all the stationery that the Windhoek High School community donated to Mount View learners.

“I have never experienced such excitement from each and every learner to give to their fellow learners, without expecting anything in return, I am indeed a proud WHSer,” Reschelle said.

Emily Nuyoma, a learner’s representative council (LRC) from Mount View, extended her gratitude to the Windhoek High School learners.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ladies and gentlemen who made it possible for us to go further with our studies. May the Almighty bless you,” Nuuyoma said.

Another grade 10 learner at Mount View Glacia Sipapo, who lost all her stationery when her home burnt down, could not contain her gratitude.

“On the 25th of January our house burnt down, but this did not discourage me from coming to school. I still borrowed clothes from my neighbours and came to school,” Sipapo said.

Mount View head boy Anton Hifikepunye said what Windhoek High School did was extraordinary.

“This has opened so many doors for us, as most of us cannot afford basic needs that would allow for effective teaching and learning,” he said.
