I feel like there should be a balance between traditional and new media, because some of us live at the village where there is no Wi-Fi or proper network. We also don’t have access to technology; therefore, we need to read hard copy newspapers.

Petrina Joas - Windhoek Technical High School

It is important that we strike a balance between new media and traditional media in terms of access. I do feel that not everybody has access to data or Wi-Fi or any type of internet. We need to have traditional media where they can read news when they have no access to social media.

Profile Gottlieb - Academia Secondary School

I think there should still be a balance between new media and traditional media. There are some older people who enjoys reading a hardcopy newspaper and there are also some teenagers who enjoy reading a hard copy of a book. In terms of new media, there are younger people who goes online to get their news so I think there should be a balance.

Jemimah Ndebele - Delta Secondary School

I definitely think it is important to have a balance between new media and traditional media. It is important that everybody in the country is accounted for and everybody has a way to access the news. For new media, it is mostly just the younger generation, but it is important that we also get the news across to the older generation. Therefore, I think that traditional news should still stay in place. We should just find a balance between the two to accommodate all generations.

Beatri Turner - Windhoek High School

The balance between traditional media and the new technological way of presenting news, I really think it will be a gradual change from traditional media to the new modern ways of getting news out. We have already come so far and some places are totally digital. The change will definitely be gradual because Namibia is a big country with a wide spectrum of traditions and the way people do things. The change will be gradual but we should move to a space where we are more digital.

Uaomba Mbakera - Edugate Academy

My opinion on the traditional media is that I think it came a long way and I think it has been doing well, but the world is constantly evolving so I think we should also give a chance for the new media to come in.
