Pro-Ed vier Wiskunde-en-wetenskapweek

Wiskunde-en-Wetenskapweek is vol opwinding en pret! Gedurende hierdie week is daar verskeie aktiwiteite wat plaasvind: van brugbou tot 'n oliebol-eetkompetisie. Iets van alles vir almal. Nie almal hou van wiskunde of wetenskap nie: party hou net van een van die twee, of van albei, of nie van een van die twee nie, maar wiskunde-en-wetenskapweek wys vir ons dat daar meer in die twee vakke lê as wat ons elke dag in die klas sien.

Om die week mee af te skop het ons pouse 'n dier se hart oopgesny en kon ons in werklikheid sien hoe die binnekant van 'n hart werklik lyk. Dit is beslis beter kwaliteit as die prentjie in ons handboeke.

Vir die syfer boffins was daar ‘n pi kompetisie; ongelukkig nie die tipe wat ‘n mens kan eet nie, maar hieride pi is net so opwindend soos die eetbare een. Ons het gelukkig later die week met ‘n eetkompetisie te doen gekry. Pi is eintlik 'n kompetisie vir almal! Wie weet, miskien kan jy die volgende koning of koningin wees, self 'n prins of 'n prinses. Ons pi prins van hieride jaar kort hoeka 'n prinses.

Wie sou kon dink dat 'n paar roomysstokkies, 'n stukkie tou en 'n klein botteltjie gom brûe kan bou wat oor die tien kilogram kan weerstaan! Die wiele in die kop het behoorlik gedraai toe daar aan hierdie brûe beplan is! Wiskunde en wetenskap op sy beste gekombineerd!

Wiskunde is nie net syfers nie en wetenskap is nie net teorieë nie; dit was die doel van die dasse. Ontwerp jou eie das wat wiskunde of wetenskap uitbeeld. Dit was 'n glansgeleentheid vir die kunstige mense om hulle stempel af te druk en te wys dat daar tog kuns in wiskunde en wetenskap lê, jy moet dit net omskep.

Om die week mee af te sluit was daar 'n oliebol-eetkompetisie, waar elke deelnemer vyf verskillende geure oliebolle gekry het om te eet in net 3.14 minute! Gelukkig was daar ‘n bottel water om al die soetigheid mee af te sluk. Die manne en een dame moes eet dat die stof staan of eerder dat die versiersuiker spat.

Dis tyd dat ons wiskunde en wetenskap uit ‘n ander oogpunt bekyk, want daar lê tog ook iets mooi in dit - al sien ons dit nie elke dag raak nie.
