Pupil of Mariental Secondary School tested positive for covid19

A 20 year old student of Mariental Secondary School was tested positive for covid19. He travelled fom Walvis Bay on the 02 June 2020 and on the 15 of June 2020, he went to the hospital with a runny nose, headache and loss of taste and smell which started on the 31 May 2020 while in Walvis Bay. He was swabbed on the 15 June and was taken to the quarantine facility. The results came out positive on the 17 June 2020 and he is in a satisfactory condition and is currently in isolation. The principal of the school urged the school community to remain calm and be cooperative. He also mentioned that the following interventions will take place; high risk close contact cases will be quarantined; All classrooms and the hostel will be disinfected; all hostel boarders will be kept in quarantine at the school hostel for 14 days; starting today, 18 June 2020 until 06 July 2020; Parents and guardians are urged to practice social distancing and ensure that all the learners from outside be in self isolation to keep good personal hygiene. All the workers, learners, teachers and parents of the school should be cautious of any flu like symptoms and report them immediately at the COVID 19 screening centre at the Old Bank Windhoek Building in town.
