De Duine Secondary School held their annual Science Fair in May 2019. Whereby many students participated in it. There were so many different projects from Robotics to Food Science. It was just totally amazing to see how passionate learners were when they were presenting their projects. Nowadays learners do not want to be involved in things like Science Fair because they have the attitude of “Why should I be doing something like that?” and “I will just accept my zero.” Science fair is not just about points or the marks you will get, it is an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned and it is an opportunity for students to apply what you have learned and it is an important factor to motivate the students toward science. Science fair contributes to their social developments. Here at De Duine children love to do science fair projects. De Duine had 15 learners that were selected to go through to the Walvis Bay Circuit Science fair. The 15 learners were Penny Kashidulika, Caroline Louw, Morientes Izaaks, Naftali Shinyama, Henry Cookson, Amoré Gurirab, Tayissha Rooinasie, Lesley-Ann Khoe-Aos, Wendy Hamukwaya, Danayson Cloete, Anastacia Strauss, Dashiniqua Engelbrecht, Kate-mor Pietersen and Loide Iyambo. Out of all of them three got gold and went through to the regionals that will take place from 10-12 July 2019 at Walvis Bay Municipality hall. The three learners are Penny, Naftali and Morientes.
