Scouting for art talent

In celebrating 30 years of independence, Ramos Realtors Namibia is running an independence competition for children and teenagers. Youngsters up to the age of 18 can enter the competition by sending their Namibian independence art to 081 292 6746. The entries can be in the form of dance, music, video, poetry, painting or abstract art and must relate to Namibia’s Independence Day.

All entries are posted Ramos Realtors Namibia’s Facebook page and the winners will be determined by the number of likes for the original post. Entries must include the participant’s name, surname, age and school. The competition ends on 3 April at 17:00 and the winners will be announced on 6 April.

Speaking to The Zone, Claudia Lofty-Eaton, the owner of Ramos Realtors Namibia, said they came up with the idea to host this competition because her nine-year-old son became bored at home during the coronavirus shutdown.

“We are also very actively involved in the Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club and we had a lot of moms saying that the kids were bored at home. We then decided to do this competition as a way to distract the kids from what is happening currently,” she said.

She added that they thought this would be an excellent way of doing something positive for the kids and were lucky to obtain so many sponsorships within the space of 12 hours.

Lofty-Eaton said the aim is keep children fit and active, both mentally and physically, during this period of staying at home.
