The u/15 boys have once again made their mark. It all began with trials and tribulations that require extra hard work from them but the emerged victorious. Four of the players from AKPS&A have been chosen to represent the /Khomas region at the Debmarine football cup in Oshakati. Joaquin Kangiwa, grade 8, Denzel Hamalu, grade 9, Vijandamuje Nunuhe, grade 8 and Branco Rukoro grade 8 has been selected to showcase their skills in Oshakati.

When asked how they felt about the point at which the sports has reached coach Mangena said “I am proud because this just shows that there is indeed a development in sports since we are doing our best in grooming young players. The young players are able to represent the school in terms of sports and this shows that hard work indeed pays off. We wish to groom future stars that can perform at international levels.”

Coach Kangala the sports coordinator of high school is excited for the progress of the sport. “Certain sports codes are progressing. There is an improvement in the performance of the children. I expect the different sports code to win more tournaments and more training time is required to help boost the skills exhibited. It is essential to keep performing in sports sector as this can also market the school through sports.”

Coach Jaanda stated that: “I am very proud of the peaks that the school has reached especially the boys who made it into the regional team. I believe with more training greater heights will be reached by both boys and girls.” It all begins when the children are small so Coach Sunny who is responsible for the younger players said younger age groups are definite work in progress. “We hope for the best as we advance through the next couple of years. Time is of great importance and so is practice which makes perfect.”

The members of the winning region will each get a voucher worth N$10 000 of sports equipment for their school so AKPS&A stands a chance to win equipment worth N$40 000.

The girls’ soccer team is also going for greater heights as Amore Swaartbooi an outgoing leaner of AKPS&A also qualified to play for the national team. The NFA Galz and Goals league is aimed at engaging the girl child in sports. The u/15 as well as u/17 girls’ teams are hoping to reach the top three spots in the league by the end of it all. Sports indeed are a great field to advance and excel in.

The u/17 boys played the KSSR league and made it all the way through to the semi-finals. Having played 7games they emerged to play against HTS at the penalty shootout. The only way to win a league is through training as most players are talented but lack the basic chemistry on the field.
