One of the things Jan Jonker is well known for is the school choir, not only do they sing like bosses but they do it like the conquerors that they are.
Ready to defeat anything in their way. The pride of Jan Jonker is in its school choir the melody and love of music. The school choir carries the legacy of late Chief Jan Jonker and as an Oorlam and Nama peoples’ leader, music was a traditional thing.
The school choir is namely known as the Conquerors, as they believe together they stand in unity.
The school choir was invited to an award ceremony held at Windhoek High School Hall on the 31th January 2020 and had the honor to be one of the luckiest schools together with Eldorado High School's school choir. Learners from all 14 regions where present for best performances, Ministers, Directors, school principals and teachers where present. The school choir sang in front of a large number of audience.
The school choir normally sings without a conductor, because most of the members including the conductor were in grade 12 last year and left.
The school choir is progressing with the help of Mrs. /Naris and Mr. //Narib as they are pushing them to their best abilities. They normally train from Mondays to Thursdays but due to exams approaching, they only train on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The school choir has a big competition on the way, hosted by one of our cluster's schools Hage Geingob which will take place immediately after the holiday.
"I believe that our school choir has potential in overcoming any obstacle they may encounter and this will only be possible with unity and discipline," said Leonardo Ochurub a member of the school choir
"Our school choir has the ability to sing with passion and we believe in having fun which makes it more enjoyable. Singing not only entertains but we want to spread a positive word through it," added Presila Gaoses a member of the school choir.
