With extensive knowledge in retail and distribution, Trofimus Paulus’s experience spans over 22 years of sales in the clothing, insurance and motor industries. He says this has helped him to build a strong network in northern Namibia. Paulus says his fascination and love for vehicles is derived from the crazy love he has for Formula One.

As a dealer principal, Paulus is responsible for the positive customer experience of guests, the phrase used for customers at Toyota. This can be guests looking to buy a new or used vehicle, buying parts or servicing their vehicle with Pupkewitz Toyota Oshakati. In addition to this, he stated that he is also required to make sure that the employees of the branch are motivated to work and have high morale for their daily tasks and ongoing responsibilities.

About Paulus

Paulus was born in Walvis Bay and began his primary education at Immanuel Ruiters Primary School. He then attended Kuisebmond Secondary School and matriculated at Cornelius Goreseb High School at Khorixas.

The key aspects he believes in include the progression of the company. “The value proposition of Pupkewitz Motor Division and how we treat employees, customers and all other stakeholders is essential. The prospect of development and growth that this company offers remains central to me,” he said.

Accomplishments encountered by Paulus include staff retention, development and creating new revenue streams. “I am also proud of the diversity that we created and continue to drive going forward,” Trofimus said.

Measuring success

For Paulus, success entails taking care of the basic needs of his team and subsequently getting the team to feel secure and have a sense of belonging. He further added that if he can get his team to this point, the productivity levels will double, leading to happy customers.

His future plans are to learn more and grow in his newly appointed role. “I am also looking at enrolling for my Senior Executive Management diploma at the University of Stellenbosch,” he added.

Paulus advises the youth to take failure as the greatest teacher. He stated that there is no shortcut in life and that patience and endurance produce great results.
