Cynthia Ileka was born and raised in Windhoek by two hardworking parents. Some people call her bubbly, but she likes to describe herself as an easy-going individual who gets along with everyone. In a nutshell, she describes herself as a simple girl who believes in uplifting women who don’t believe in shooting for the stars.

Ileka graduated at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in logistics and supply chain management. Also, she expects to attain an honours degree in business management in April 2020.

“My hobbies include being an avid reader, going to the gym, socialising and attending church. I consider myself a leader who mentors and grooms others,” she says.

She has been a call centre supervisor at MultiChoice Namibia for about two years.

“This role has enabled me to tap into my leadership skills, which I did not know I possessed. I take pride in ensuring that my team works efficiently towards the company goals,” Ileka says.

She adds that MultiChoice Namibia has enabled her to grow within the organisation. “My job is full of challenges and many various opportunities to grow,” she says.

Ileka’s biggest challenge in life is being the best she can be; however, she takes each day as a lesson to get there. She believes this is the true definition of self-fulfilment. Juggling between personal and professional life, although it is a challenge, means both ends increase each day. “I need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously daily but I take each day as it comes and plan accordingly.”

She is inspired by her parents. “Their hardworking ethic has been instilled in me for life. Their love and support and hard work to raise, shelter, educate, push and nurture me are commendable, and I know that I am fortunate to have them,” she says proudly.

Another inspiration of hers includes women who juggle marriage, careers, children and studies and still manage to balance it all, which also happens to be the definition of her mother.

Her greatest fear is getting side-tracked when it comes to meeting her career goals. “I am a driven person, but I know how easy it is to get distracted. I strive for success and worry about letting things get in the way of reaching my full potential,” Ileka says.
