Not all individuals are entitled to education, a roof over their heads and nourishment. That is where philanthropy comes into view. Philanthropy is the desire to promote welfare of others which is expressed especially in contribution of money or time for good causes.

Philanthropy does not have to be in the form of donating money nonetheless by donating or rather volunteering your talents, treasures and time. In Namibia there are many individuals that are not entitled to education, accommodation and nourishment. One of the ways these individuals could be assisted is by philanthropy.

Why is it important to practice philanthropy?

It is important to practice philanthropy, especially by the youth because it benefits the individual, the community and society as a whole. It is beneficial to the individual due to the fact that it contributes to their character in the sense of (responsibility and commitment), to their sense of self-worth, in addition it is possible for improvement in their behavior at school and their grades. However philanthropy should not be based on receiving but on humanity towards other human beings.

How can youth practice philanthropy?

Philanthropy is not necessarily based on donating money, it can also be practiced in the form of volunteering your talents, treasures and time. Youth can practice philanthropy by organising events were they can showcase talents in hopes of raising money, giving away items that they no longer need such as clothes, stationary ,bags or even more. It is also possible for them to volunteer their spare time to orphanages, old age homes or shelters in hopes of helping others. The youth could even create other ways to help others in need.

At Amazing Kids Private School and Academy students are provided with a platform in the form of community service to practice philanthropy and to give to those in need. Students at Amazing Kids are advised by their teachers to give to those in need due to the fact that the future can never be predicted.
