Atletiekseisoen skop behoorlik af

Die Marathon Sugar Quinton-Steele Botes (QSB)-afrigtingskliniek het weer vanjaar gehalte opleiding aan atlete en afrigters gebied vir die komende atletiekseisoen.

Niks sê atletiekseisoen is hier soos die immergewilde Marathon Sugar Quinton-Steele Botes (QSB)-afrigtingskliniek nie.

Die wyle mnr. Quinton-Steele Botes het 27 jaar gelede die eerste QSB-afrigtingskliniek begin waar atlete, afrigters en selfs die jongspan die geleentheid kry om hul vaardighede vir die komende atletiekseisoen op te skerp.

Vanjaar se kamp het vanaf 7 tot 10 Januarie by die Onafhanklikheidstadion in Windhoek plaasgevind. Sewe hoofafrigters het waardevolle insette in die verskeie dissiplines gelewer. Jonathan Greyvenstein was een van die afrigters wat by die hoogspring betrokke was. Sy landgenoot, Charley Strohmenger was by die naellope betrokke.

Ander afrigters sluit onder meer in Roger Haitengi by die driesprong en verspring, Henk Botha in die gewigstoot en diskusgooi, Nico Cronjé in die spiesgooi, Christo Swarts in die middel- en langafstande en Wimpie Nel in die hekkies. FC Pieters, Shervin Vries, Antonette Nel, Carin Swanepoel, Karlien Botha, Lucky Gavenab, Ryan Williams en Naklai Tangeni was ook van die afrigters wat uitgenooi is na die kamp.

Me. Leonie van Rensburg, die organiseerder van die kamp, is opgewonde en dankbaar vir die volgehoue belangstelling en betrokkenheid by die kliniek, en ook vir die getroue ondersteuning van die borge elke jaar.

“Klinieke van hierdie gehalte sal jou maklik tussen N$1 000 en amper N$3 000 in Suid-Afrika kos, maar danksy ons borge kan ons vir slegs N$500 gehalte opleiding en blootstelling aan wonderlike afrigters moontlik maak. Sonder die steun van ons borge is die kamp nie moontlik nie. Atletiek behoort vir elke kind in Namibië toeganklik te wees, om atlete vir die toekoms te kweek,” sê Van Rensburg.

Die ondersteunende borge sluit in Avis Car Hire, Coca-Cola, Food Lovers Market, Caterserve, Gondwana, OTB Sport, Safari Hotel, Waltons Stationary, Hyundai, Crystal Gold, Africa Personnel Services (APS) en Woodlands Dairy.
