Ketameko Fishing in conjunction with NANSO donate N$14 500 to Namutuni Primary School.

The Namibia National Students Organisation (Nanso) is a national student organisation in Namibia. In partnership with Ketameko Fishing, Nanso donated N$14 500 to Namutuni Primary School in Windhoek recently.

“About N$10 000 went to the school's soup kitchen and N$4 500 towards buying school tracksuits for less privileged learners. The learners have already received the tracksuits,” said Esther Shakela of the Nanso national executive committee.

The organisation, through this partnership, will be making two more donations to a school in Oshakati and another in Walvis Bay. The organisation is committed towards supporting the feeding programme at the schools.

Nanso's primary mandate is advocating for access to education.

“There are barriers that threaten this access for many. This is inclusive of not having proper meals to eat and having a school uniform. There have been reports of learners who are either not able to focus during lessons due to hunger or simply do not go to school because there is no food at home,” added Esther Shakela.

Additionally, some learners have to brave unfavourable weather conditions without the right gear. These donations are the effort of the organisation with the assistance of Ketameko Fishing in bridging some of the gaps that exist within our schools.
