The long awaited annual talent show is back, after it was last held in 2014. People were really excited to hear that their favorite event has returned.
As the LRC’s of 2017 tried to raise funds for their final project towards helping the school develop, they decided to kill two birds with one stone, by looking for talented individuals at our school to uplift the image of the school and to raise funds.
A great number of talented students sung up to audition to win the grand prize. As De Duine is known for knowing how to choose their judges they decided to pick 3 of their amazing teachers to judge their students talents. The judges were Mrs. Amuyela, MR. Sakaria and Mr. Grobler. The event was hosted by the head girl of 2017, Shenise Mcnab and LRC member of 2017, Max Ipinge.
We had a lot of astonishing performances from singers to dancers to actors. Our opening act were two talented girls which had a little problem when they started singing, the microphone malfunctioned and they had to go acapella and show their true talent and sing without a microphone and it sounded awesome. Next up we had an amazing dancer who goes by the name of Armando Gravity Deceiver, watching him felt like watching one of the Les Twins solo. Not long after Lenard got on the stage and the crowd went nuts as he started dancing and he was later accompanied by Armando Gravity Deceiver where the Les Twins were reunited again. There was one more dancer known as Ramasta Stage Viper, the crowd went gaga just by hearing his name and when he started dancing and singing the crowd went wild. We had a piano duet by a duo that goes by the name of FOPOS crew which was one of the best performances.
Lorenzo Louw a name to be remembered after the show was over because he made history on that stage as he set the stage on fire and made the crowd go crazy with a malfunctioned microphone and his stunning voice as he sang “Stay with me” by Sam Smith and he was the last contestant.
The judges were surprised by the outstanding talent the De Duine learners had, but they had to choose only one learner and declare him/her as the winner of the 2017 talent show.
Mrs. Amuyela says that all the performances were mind-blowing, she says that they could have done better if they had just prepared a little more because there were some contestants that forgot the lyrics to the song they were singing, and Mr. Sakaria said that all the performances where “topz” and Mr. Grobbler was speechless.
As the time came to reveal the winner the audience already started shouting out whom they thought had won but it was all up to the judges. As Shenise and Max announced that Lorenzo Louw was the winner the audience went out of control. De Duine secondary school talent show was one of the best events in the school’s history.
