In die Hande van Ons Jeug

Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP) se graad 11 toerisme-leerders was op ’n uitstappie na N/a’ankuse om hulle kennis oor die toerismebedryf in Namibië te verbreed.
Op Saterdag, 9 September, het Mev. Ariska van Vuuren, toerisme onderwyseres te WAP, saam met al haar graad 11 leerders die Wild Reservaat, N/a’ankuse, besoek om navorsing vir hulle Praktiese Assesseeringstaak (PAT) te versamel deur vir die bestuur van N/a’ankuse ’n paar vrae te vra. Hierdie vrae behels die opdoening van praktiese kennis binne praktyk aangaande wanneer die besigste tyd is vir N/a’ankuse, of hulle fokus op die internasionale toerisme mark of eerder die plaaslike toerisme mark en ook hoekom?
Verder het hierdie leerlinge ook saam met die San-mense tyd spandeer, meer van hulle kultuur geleer en sommer ’n hele paar “oorlewingswenke” gekry. Mev. Van Vuuren sê dat die doel van hierdie uitstappie was om vir die leerlinge meer te leer oor die toerisme bedryf in Namibië, hulle te help navorsing in te samel vir hulle PAT taak en dan sodoende ook ’n positiewe verandering in die toerisme bedryf van Namibië te maak deur die jeug bloot te stel aan die nodige kennis, vaardighede en ondervinding.
Toerisme is ’n groot rolspelende faktor in die ekonomie van ’n land en dit is belangrik om die land se toerisme aantreklikheid van so ’n aard en gehalte te maak dat dit meer en meer internasionale toeriste sal lok. WAP fokus daarop om al hulle leerders goed voor te berei vir watter ook al beroep hulle eendag betree. Dit is juis daarom dat die skool hierdie uitstappie reël vir ons toerisme leerlinge om dan aan hulle ook die nodige ervaring, kennis en ondervinding te gee.
