Celebrating Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day at De Duine is always celebrated in style. This year was no exception as the school swarmed with learners dressed white, red and black. In a quick interview I talked to a few learners to ask them why they celebrate Valentine’s Day. Samantha April says it’s a great day to show her loved one they are loved and how special they are. Olesia Olivier says she sees no point, as she does not have a loved one to celebrate it with. The school later on had a special ceremony where the learners could choose their own Mr and Ms Valentine. Each class chose a representative and they had to strut their stuff on the runway. This year’s winners were Ethan Egumbo and Jaydah Uiras.

Later the grade 12 Valentine’s Ball hosted their annual Valentine’s Ball at the Walvis Bay Yacht Club. Both ladies and gents were dressed to impressed and enjoyed the night immensely. The learners also participated in a scavenger hunt where Lindley Appolis and Alex Carballo were the lucky winners. Mr and Miss Valentine were also chosen as Sade Swartz and Dimarsho Isaaks.
