Not only does Kuisebmond Secondary School have great scientists, choristers but great mathematicians as well. Math is something we simply cannot live without. To some if might just be another every day tool but to others it has proved to be a way more than just that!

The annual coastal Mathematics competition sponsored by Bank Windhoek Namibia took place at Namib High School in Swakopmund on the 10th of July 2019. It involved a total of 13 schools from the coast. Schools that took part in the competition were: Duinesig High School, The Dolphin Schools, Swakopmund Secondary School, Tutaleni high school, Pro-Ed Academy, Private School Swakopmund, Walvis Bay Private High School, Westside High School, Namib High School and Kuisebmond Secondary School. The learners that represented our school were the likes of Nathanael Andreas, Matrida Hadibo, Silas Sheelongo and Conrad Gurirab, all from grade 10, accompanied by their Mathematics teacher Mr //Gowaseb. The competing learners from different schools then battled it out in three papers: an individual speed test, multiple choice test and Team Test. “It was a good learning experience,” said Elizabeth Shoopala a participant from Duinesig, one of the participants also added that “it was quite challenging especially the group work”.

To sum up this was a really good platform for learners as it helped them in ways such as developing critical thinking, precise answering skills and most importantly the ability to consolidate and rapid revision of mathematical facts. In the end Private School Swakopmund clinched first place in the speed test, Walvis Bay Private School in multiple choice and Kuisebmond Secondary School in team work.
