The spokesperson of North-West University (NWU), Louis Jacobs, says Namibian students are not forced to leave the university's premises but can do so if they want to.

“We do not know what will happen but all students will be briefed soon. In the mean time the public is advised to check
out http://www.nwu.ac.za/coronavirus for latest updates. NWU confirmed that they will not be restricting students to return to campus. It is however beyond the university’s control if the students are not able to return to the university in time due to the possibility of the closure of borders,” he said.

Martin Viljoen, Media Manager of the University of Stellenbosch, said no specific arrangements have been made for Namibian students. “Of course, it would be best to talk to the embassy there, but the information here is the borders that are going to close is probably fake news. Namibia is not on the danger list at this time,” he says. He adds what may happen, is borders may close later and students may not be able to return. This is not in the university's control," he added.
