“Doen jou deel om lewens te red”

Die Bloedoortappingsdiens (NamBTS) het hul skoleveldtog, wat poog om die bloedreserwes na die feesseisoen weer op te bou, geloods. Elke jaar ervaar NamBTS ’n beduidende afname in die hoeveelheid skenkings tydens die feesseisoen.

Die opvoedkundige beampte van NamBTS, mnr. Titus Shivute, beklemtoon die belangrikheid van die veldtog en moedig skenkers verder aan om tydens die feestyd, en daarna, te skenk.

“Bloed het ’n raklewe van slegs 42 dae en die afname in skenkings het bygedra tot ’n landswye afname in die voorraad wat aan hospitale en pasiënte voorsien kan word,” sê Shivute.

“Ons hoop om deur ons skoleveldtog ons voorraad op te bou en ons maak staat op leerlinge en studente om tydens die volgende drie maande hul deel te doen om lewens te red,” voeg Shivute verder by.

Om die behoefte aan bloed in Namibië te bevredig, moet NamBTS minstens ’n gemiddeld van 145 donasies elke weeksdag ontvang, aangesien skenkers 56 dae (wat ongeveer agt weke is) tussen elke skenking moet wag.

“Ons hoop om ongeveer 4000 eenhede bloed van die verskillende skole en tersiêre instellings tydens die volgende drie maande te ontvang. Die skoleveldtog gaan verskeie inligtingsaktiwiteite by instellings en skole regoor die land aanbied en alle leerlinge wat tydens die tydperk skenk sal ’n geskenk as ’n teken van die organisasie se dankbaarheid ontvang,” sê Shivute.

Vereistes om te kan skenk:

· Jy moet 16 jaar en ouer wees, met toestemming van jou ouers indien jy jonger is as 18.

· Jy moet meer as 50 kg weeg.

· Jy moet gesond wees en goed voel op die dag wat jy wil skenk.

· Beoefen veilige seks

· Jy moet toegewyd wees om ander te help
