A Personal trainer is an individual certified to have a varying degree of knowledge of general fitness involved in exercise prescription and instruction. They motivate clients by setting goals and providing feedback and accountability to clients. Trainers also measure their client's strengths and weaknesses with fitness assessments.

These fitness assessments may also be performed before and after an exercise program to measure their client's improvements in physical fitness. They may also educate their clients in many other aspects of wellness besides exercise, including general health and nutrition guidelines.

Sherwin Vries a personal trainer in Windhoek. He couches his clients depending on their schedule and provides fitness knowledge.

“My first client is at five o’clock in the morning and I go from home to home,” he said.

Vries was inspired to become a personal trainer because he himself is a sport man .He took part in various sports like Rugby, Tennis, Cricket ,Table tennis and he is a previous athlete for Namibia and South Africa in the 100 and 200 m.

He became qualified at being a personal trainer by using his 20 years of experience where he learnt about the basic of fitness such as how to gain weight, how to lose weight, how to keep fit and how to read a person.

You need to be able to analyse people, Vries says is one of the professional super power one needs when you want to be a personal trainer.
