A secretary is someone who carries out administrative tasks, send out emails, make appointments and keep records and sends out correspondence in an office.

Jacqueline Tjozongoro has been a secretary for the past 10 years and her duties are to perform routine clerical and administrative function such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to callers.

“I keep files in a system I set up when I joined I don’t really spend too much time filing but I usually dedicate around 45 minutes an afternoon just ensuring there are no documents lying about and the filing systems for hard copy as well as computer files are as they should be. During the day tons of emails arrive that need organizing and responding to and tons of mail also arrives that needs filing – I also usually end up filing magazines, presentations, proposals and other documents which arrive or are created during the day” explains Jacky.

You will likely spend most of your life in the workplace, it’s time you, and everyone else, started working in ways which make it more fulfilling and rewarding. The more that people just like you act as pioneers, the more the word will spread”

“Bringing your purpose, passion and power into work means you have the potential to create great relationship with colleagues and management. It means you are a role model for commitment, engagement and a self-rewarding attitude. You also become an influential and formidable force in your department or even the organisation at large” adds Jacky.
