MTC, Standard Bank Namibia, Air Namibia and Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) yesterday launched the Teen Inspirational Summit, which will focus on and be spearheaded entirely by young adults.

The aim of the summit is to engage youth leaders to explore issues relevant to them and propose solutions through dialogue, creative innovation and thought-changing actions.

The theme of the summit is ‘Connecting with tomorrow’s leaders’.

“At My Zone, we firmly believe in telling and sharing the stories that young people have to share and we strive to provide them with that platform - a place that allows the children of Namibia to express themselves and which allows others to engage in the conversation as well.

“MTC has thus provided an opportunity for dialogue to take place with the launch of the Teen Inspirational Summit. As the media partner of this platform, we aim to ensure that all stories are heard,” said Tunohole Mungoba, coordinating journalist for My Zone, an NMH initiative that is official media partner of the summit.

“We deliberately chose the theme of ‘Connecting with tomorrow’s leaders’, because we are recognising the role that youth play as agents of change and as critical actors in promoting insights towards a better world. And in doing so, we light the path towards their greatness because the future belongs to the youth,” explained Tim Ekandjo, MTC’s chief human capital and corporate affairs officer.

“I call upon the entire Namibian public and especially agencies and institutions charged with the sacred responsibility of nurturing the affairs of the young people in the country to rally behind the teen summit, by making sure that young people from across the country attend this summit,” Ekandjo added.

Standard Bank Namibia head of marketing and communications, Magreth Mengo said: “In keeping with our motto of Moving Forward, as underpinned by our corporate social investment strategies, we are proud to support the teen summit for it exactly speaks our language of ensuring a legacy of sustainability - and what better way than to engage with tomorrow’s leaders today.”

The Teen Inspirational Summit will feature a diverse range of speakers and personalities from the continent, such as Nigerian YouTube comedian Success from Mark Angel Comedy Fame, DJ Arch Jnr from South Africa, Namibian champion debater Christian Prinsloo and motivational speakers Rebekka Nghilaluwa, King Nahh and Kimberley Malope.

The event takes place at Safari Court Hotel’s convention centre in Windhoek on 9 March 2019. Tickets are on sale at Webtickets at a cost of N$100 per person.
