The junior town council is a platform where high school students from different schools get chosen to serve the community of Swakopmund. The purpose of the JTC is to create great opportunities for the youth of swakopmund and to act as the voice for the youth of Swakopmund.

The councilors of the Junior Town Council are now on their way to learning more necessary leadership skills that they can implement in their community.

The Junior Town Council’s whole vision and mission is to bring the youth together and to create a bond and relationship with one another and the Town Council of Swakopmund. They do this by hosting movie nights and soccer tournaments where young people join forces through sports etc. The JTC usually have sales or entrance fees which they donate to orphanages, clinics, old age homes etc.

Another one of the JTC’S missions is to keep the environment clean. They accomplish this by having beach clean-ups and street clean-ups every trimester. The councilors also have other projects, e.g. the shoe-box projects: where they ask learners from different schools to donate stationary, toothbrushes, toothpaste and canned food or whatever can be useful to the less fortunate.

This year the JTC said their goodbyes to one of the best seniors they ever had and welcomed eight new councilors from Pro-Ed Akademie, Namib High School,Westside High School and Private Schule Swakopmund. They are beyond excited to get their journey started.
