Together Everyone Achieves More

29 September 2017 | Youth

From 16th-18th June 2017 the newly elected student representative council (SRC) of the DHPS together with their SRC advisory teachers Ms. Detavernier and Mr. Felchow held a team building weekend at the “Rock Lodge”.
The purpose of this annual excursion is to strengthen the relationship between the new and old members of the SRC and to improve communication within the group. They did various team building exercises which reinforced their relationships and social skills within the group. One of these activities was transporting balloons through a room as a “snake” without letting any balloon fall on the ground and without touching them with anything else but their stomachs and backs. This activity taught them that there might be obstacles along the way but by working together any goal can be achieved.
The new SRC also did activities which required more physical strength, like moving every member from one end of an obstacle course to the other without touching the floor. In addition they also had more challenging activities such as abseiling and mountain traversing which left the group tired, full of thorns but happy and fulfilled.
The team further improved their teamwork by watching movies and doing personality surveys to learn more about their strengths and weaknesses. The Rock Lodge provided the team with accommodation in cozy stone houses, delicious meals and friendly staff who were always willing to lend a helping hand.
Overall the DHPS´s SRC had a great deal of fun and learned a lot which will ensure that they can do the best possible job as the DHPS learners´ voice in 2017.
