Training the next generation leaders
Roberth GaosebThe Grade 6 class, accompanied by Teacher Rene left for the Moonlight Resort late last trimester. All 13 learners were ready and excited to attend the long awaited camp hosted by Mr Andre Ross.
The 3 days involved lots of teambuilding activities, attending lectures into the evening and battling the East Wind!
The highlight of the camp was the trip to the Mole where we they had the opportunity to show their strength against the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Canoeing was a first for most of us – teamwork made it fun and easy.
We learnt about the importance of teamwork, consideration, tolerance and understanding each other. Most importantly we learnt that good leadership is responsible leadership.
Our creed and promise as the Grade 7 class of 2020 is: We see you, you matter!
Grade 11 camp
The Grade 11 leadership was held from the 31st August to the 1st September 2019 at Goanikontes Oasis. Hennie from Team Build Namibia prepared challenging activities for the learners to tackle head on as soon as they arrived. A team building excursion is of course not complete without “Boeresports” in which the students took part in on the Saturday. All the learners were divided into two teams and had to work together to defeat the opposing team. Madelyn Nel and Shakira Shanjengange who were both in the blue team said that the games were an innovative way to bring about cohesion and the best in every individual. Some activities were not so simple because they had to give their all to build a bridge with straws that is able to hold a bucket of water. Their culinary skills were put to test by preparing a delectable “potjie” and they had to build a boat made from boxes that can float and withhold one of the team members. The camp was thoroughly enjoyed by all the learners and was a great team-building experience “ The trip was really amazing I honestly enjoyed it “ said Bernard Roux , “ I took away a lot from the camp “ added Mbitjita Tjongarero who was among the 19 that on the trip.
