My Zone visited Hermann Gmeiner Primary School in Windhoek last week as the learners were preparing for their interhouse athletics scheduled for 10 February 2022. We asked the learners what their goals are ahead of the interhouse and this is what they had to say:

Alfred Kashihakumwa

I do high jump and I race; my future goal is to participate in the Olympic Games and I want to win a gold medal in the Olympics. I look up to Christine Mboma.

Tasheld Goliath

I like running, I like winning and love coming first and I’m happy when I do it. At the interhouse I will run and try my best to win first place.

Daniel Namundjebo

I am good at running and I want to win first place during our interhouse. I am very fast and so I believe I can outrun the other learners.

Meameno Shilunga

I did high jump and long jump today when we were training. I came second today in both high jump and long jump but I will come first at the interhouse because I will train harder to improve.

Cato Kandorozu

I want to do high jump, long jump and shotput. I want to come first in all of them, because I want to prove to my mom that I’m really good at athletics. I also usually train at my uncle’s place so I’m sure I’m good at athletics.

Amor Pietersen

I did shotput today and javelin yesterday. I tried to make it to the qualifying mark but unfortunately, I could not make it in shotput, it is just not for me. Running and high jump are meant for me and I am pretty sure I will qualify. I want to take first or second place.
