The hardworking Sensikus Angula was born in a small village called Uudhilindindi located 30 km west of Oshakati. In the year 2000 he moved to Walvis Bay to start his educational journey and matriculated in 2014 at Duinesig High School.

After completing his high school education, he moved to Windhoek for tertiary education, where he pursued his honours degree in Earth Sciences at the University of Namibia (Unam) and graduated in 2020. He will obtain his BSc Chemistry honours degree with GeoChemistry in April 2021.

Before he started working for Geneva Events, he used to tutor grade 10 to 12 learners to help them prepare for their exams in science subjects.

“At Geneva Events I work as a promoter. My responsibility as a promoter is to give out information, demonstrate and show how services work with the main aim of encouraging sales of the product or service to the audience or clients for the various companies that are being promoted at that particular moment or time,” he says.

Geneva Events gave Angula the opportunity to do marketing work with no experience and the help of his superiors and colleagues guided him until he got all the necessary skills and knowledge to do the work.

As a promoter he does not work traditional hours and days, he works three times a month depending on the gigs and activations available, usually an average of four hours a day.

“Stagnation has always been one of my negative habits which I have overcome during my time at Geneva Events. Succeeding at a certain thing does not mean I should stop trying to improve myself as a person and an employee,” he says.

He has learned how to interact with different people and to broaden his knowledge and skills in the marketing industry. The most challenging thing he faced is coming across rude and impolite responses while promoting a product or service.

To Angula success means accomplishing the goals he sets for himself and completing a task the right way, on time and efficiently. Satisfying his customers brings him such a great joy and motivates him to always deliver quality work.

“My advice to young people is to use your free time to work on yourself mentally, emotionally and physically. But most importantly we all have different journeys, so stick to running your own race and don't be bothered by what other people have and just focus on yourself,” he says.
