Despite what it describes as a “rough start” in July 2017, GC Medical has been working towards their aim of delivering world-class service locally through factory-trained technical and clinical teams. The medical equipment and device industry in Namibia is highly competitive because of the small market and many competing suppliers, which is a challenge for the company.

The locally owned GC Medical remains competitive by representing world-renowned brands in Namibia while offering market-related prices.

Because it has its own technical support team, the company can lower its product pricing as it does not have to hire a team to install and service the equipment.

GC Medical says it strives to deliver a world-class service, “clinically and technically”.

The company thrives through the power of marketing and has been strategising its survival and, ultimately, its success. Over the last six months, GC Medical has invested in loan equipment as well as development of staff for northern Namibia and has also sponsored various surgical and medical equipment training initiatives.

Through hard work, presence in the market and diligence, the company is gradually realising its dream of creating a self-sustaining local company in the medical industry.

“We are creating our own brand and every product we supply, medical equipment we install and surgery we take part (in) with our products is a proud moment for us.”

The company offers clinical training on the products and equipment it supplies to doctors. It brings in medical specialists at its own cost to do training in hospitals and medical centres. It also supports the training initiatives of Namibian medical establishments and societies.

The company maintains its presence in the market through sales representatives and technical staff. It also makes use of social media platforms to provide information to existing and potential customers and is additionally looking into using traditional media in future.

The company offers support in theatre when there are surgical cases and its trained and certified staff is always ready to assist with any technical support required. With a total of eight employees currently working at the company, it strives to employ and empower Namibians with training and career advancement opportunities.

The company, in its third year of operation, has its head office in Windhoek. It recently opened a new branch in Ondangwa in northern Namibia and is planning on opening new branches in future.

“Our game is medical technology; we are constantly on the lookout for new advances in the medical market to bring the best products to Namibia at affordable prices,” it says.

The company is committed to embracing the latest technology and has fully computerised sales and management systems.

“We as a company will evolve as the need arises and the medical market requires,” it states.
