Nabil Robiati from Windhoek showed immense endurance to complete the Badlands gravel bike race of 810 kilometres in Spain around 03:00 on Thursday morning.

After almost 91 hours (three days 18 hours 44 minutes) struggling up and down the rugged terrain, Robiati added this extreme milestone to his list of previous unsupported endurance successes.

The previous night, Pierre Lambert from Windhoek clocked in after 63 hours 09 minutes, making him the first-ever Namibian finisher of the Badlands race.

Drikus Coetzee’s hopes was dashed by an untimely flu, which forced him to withdraw after 228 km on day one (Sunday) due to coughing and a sore throat.

The total climbing metres on the Badlands route amounts to roughly twice the height of Mount Everest.

The three Namibians are expected back in Windhoek on Friday. All three are hardened ultra-competitors who have previously completed The Munga (South Africa), the Munga Grit Le Dur (Namibia) and Atlas Mountain Race (Morocco).
