Afree app launched in Namibia
Afree App, a proudly African-born digital platform designed to empower youth, creators, and communities, was officially launched in Namibia last Saturday at an event themed “Empowering Africa’s Digital Future”.Already active in countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, Togo, and Cameroon, the platform offers features including video and audio conferencing, content monetisation tools, and community-building channels.
Speaking at the event, Miss Namibia 2024, Prisca Anyolo, expressed pride in the innovation coming from the continent’s young people. “I am so proud of African individuals for coming up with truly innovative digital products that can help accelerate our future, especially in bridging the digital gap between Africa and the rest of the world,” she said.
Anyolo also highlighted the importance of developing home-grown platforms that meet African needs and provide a space to showcase and celebrate African heritage.
Attendee Charlotte Namwandi described Afree App as a platform created by and for Africans to foster digital connection and content creation. “If you’re a content creator, use the app and make Africa great. I firmly believe in the potential Africans have in the digital space.”
