Career fair sets the stage
Unam hosts career fair, employment day
The career fair and employment expo is yearly endeavour to inspire students to dream big and courageously pursue their passions.
The University of Namibia's (Unam) Hifikepunye Pohamba campus hosted its annual career fair and employment expo at Ongwediva this week. The expo kicked off on Tuesday and will conclude today. The event is a yearly endeavour by Unam to inspire students to dream big and courageously pursue their passions.
The institution welcomed hundreds of excited high school learners who were keen to learn more about the many career options at their fingertips.
Oshana Region governor Elia Irimari, who was the keynote speaker during the official opening of the expo, said the platform offers learners the ability to explore their options and select the right career.
“The Unam career fair and employment expo provides a variety of opportunities for learners to choose the right career,” he said.
Irimari underlined that an educated nation is a dynamic one capable of influencing social change.
He further stated that the platform is critical for job-seekers and learners, allowing them to meet and engage in potential career growth.
“The event provides a platform to ease the burdens of learners and job-seekers having to travel out of town to learn more about fields of study and job interviews, and it benefits employers who would otherwise be obligated to pay for massive advertising for job openings,” he said.
Encouraging the learners to make the most of the career fair and employment Expo, the governor urged them to network, ask questions and seize every opportunity to gain knowledge about various career paths.
