NNOC announces winner of Team Namibia pin design for 2026 Commonwealth Games
The Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) has officially announced the winner of its Team Namibia Pin Design Competition ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, celebrating creativity, symbolism and national pride.
A unique concept highlighting that the outline of Namibia can be reflected in the shape of a human hand helped frame the spirit of the competition. When positioned in a certain way, the hand closely resembles the map of the country — a powerful reminder that Namibia’s future lies in the hands of its people.
The competition, which ran from 15 February to 31 March, attracted an impressive 93 entries from designers across Namibia. Participants were tasked with creating a commemorative pin that would represent Team Namibia on the international stage.
Following a detailed evaluation and authenticity checks, 25-year-old designer Patricia Lafewa Uapunduka has been selected as the overall winner. Her design, praised for its creativity and symbolism, will now undergo final refinement before being produced as the official Team Namibia pin for the Games.
Pin trading is a long-standing tradition at major multi-sport events such as the Commonwealth Games, where athletes, officials and delegations exchange pins as tokens of friendship, cultural identity and sporting unity. Through this tradition, Namibia’s official pin will be shared across the world, carrying the nation’s identity far beyond the competition arenas.
The NNOC expressed gratitude to all participants, noting that the quality and imagination displayed across all 93 submissions reflected strong national pride and support for Namibian athletes.
The Committee congratulated Uapunduka on her achievement and thanked the wider public for continuing to stand behind Team Namibia as preparations for Glasgow 2026 continue.
