Namibian boxers touch down in Ghana ahead of title bouts

Windhoek’s own MTC Salute Boxing Academy has proudly confirmed that two of its rising stars, Jonas Erastus and Lazarus Namalambo, will compete on the international stage today, at the prestigious Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana.

The pair’s participation forms part of a major fight card promoted under the title “The Rise Continues”, featuring international and local Ghanaian talent in several high-profile professional matchups.


Erastus to fight for WBA Africa gold title

Jonas Erastus, professional record: 10–1–0 (9 wins, 1 loss), regarded as one of Namibia’s most promising talents in the lower weight divisions, is scheduled to headline his segment with a ten-round Super Flyweight bout against Ghanaian boxer Theophilous “Theo” Allotey, unbeaten at 13–0–0 with 10 KOs. The winner will claim the WBA Africa Gold Super Flyweight Title.


Namalambo faces tough featherweight test

Lazarus Namalambo, professional record: 10–5–1 (10 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw) – will step into the ring for an eight-round featherweight bout against seasoned Ghanaian fighter John “Expensive Boxer” Laryea, whose professional record stands at 16–0–1 (16 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw), making him one of Ghana’s top featherweights. Namalambo brings experience from previous regional bouts under the MTC Salute banner, while Laryea enters as a formidable opponent with an unbeaten streak.


A big stage for Namibian boxing

The Bukom Boxing Arena, a venue dedicated to boxing and known for hosting high-level fights and continental tournaments, has become a central hub for West African boxing. Built to celebrate Ghana’s rich pugilistic heritage, the arena frequently attracts title fights and international cards, making it a fitting stage for Namibian contenders to test themselves against Ghanaian professional fighters.

For the MTC Salute Boxing Academy, this international trip highlights the organisation’s commitment to elevating Namibian boxing talent, providing fighters exposure to broader markets, and enabling them to compete for regional titles recognised by global sanctioning bodies like the WBA.
