With a diploma in directing and editing, Annika Brockmann is one of the new faces of Namibia Media Holdings’ (NMH) television broadcasting department, Network Television (NTV).

Born and raised in Otjiwarongo, Brockmann started her career as a teacher in Otjiwarongo. She also worked at Roice Nel in Cape Town, as an editor in advertisements and music videos. Her time in Cape Town ended after not being able to secure a work visa after she had completed her studies.

Brockmann was retrenched as a teacher at Windhoek Gymnasium at the end of 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and subsequently found employment at NMH where she started filling in for someone as the client executive at the Allgemeine Zeitung.

Adapt

Although marketing is not one of the fields she studied, Brockmann feels that her outgoing personality helps her fit into the marketing industry. “I am outgoing and think that I fit into the field,” she said.

She sees herself as a creative person. In her personal time, she enjoys painting, drawing and playing PC games.

Her personality was shaped by her closest relatives. She has inherited her father’s sense of humour and his love for music, while the feistiness of her mother has taught her to stand up for herself.

The fields of study that Brockmann chose do not really reflect where her interest lies, though. She would like to climb the corporate ladder one day and become a permanent part of NMH in the future. “I enjoy working here and love the people here,” Brockmann said.

With her diploma in directing and editing, Brockmann is continuing her studies to enrich the minds of learners through education. She is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in natural science and mathematics.
