As an auto electrician Dwaid's duties include assessing vehicles and finding faults using diagnostic testing equipment. They also install and repair electrical and electronic equipment; this can be in passenger and commercial vehicles to marine, and in mining equipment. Automotive electricians often interact directly with customers - asking for clarification of the problem with their vehicle, and then explaining what needs to be done. He says he was inspired to enter the automotive industry because he used to open his car toys and his curiosity helped him venture into fixing vehicles. “You work with your own hands and do not rely on the employment of other people most of the time, so you become self-sustaining,” says Dawid. He says a person who loves motor sports or vehicles will make a great auto electrician.
