Child biokinetics is a branch of biokinetics that focuses on the neuromotor and developmental side of movement in children like postural development such as scoliosis. It also focusses on milestone development and neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and autism.
Antoinette Nel is a qualified child biokineticist and says this field is focused on the holistic physical development of children. “We focus on coordination, balance, rhythm and fine motor skills,” she says.
According to her biokinetics can improve the quality of life of all children but also more specifically children who are experiencing developmental challenges.
She is currently working as a pre-primary teacher and also provides swimming lessons and remedial lessons to learners.
The role of exercise and play is pa-ramount in a child's development and ability to tackle tasks and conduct activities of daily living with ease.
